Hello, my name is
Joe Scot Schroeder and I started trucking about seven years ago. Up to this
point, depending on the trucking company, I made some really good money and not
so good money. It was very discouraging
because I never consistently made
good money. I went through five companies before eventually landing in a
company that not only consistently paid very well but also treated me very
well. But, as they say, "all good things must come to an end". I no
longer work for them. They fired me.
Bad deal, right? Not
exactly. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
During the whole
time I was trucking (and even before) I always tried to have another source of
income on the side.
My reason was
three-fold:
- I've always tried to do something else alongside my regular employment. (It's the way I'm wired I guess; always staying active, learning new things, improving myself.)
- I was never satisfied with the unpredictable, high and low income that I received from trucking. You probably know what I'm talking about…, freight is down, didn't turn in the paperwork on time, "My overweight ticket is how much?!",…yada, yada, yada. Making a little extra income fills in those times when the wallet gets pretty thin.
- I don't like to "put my eggs in one basket". In other words, relying on one income leaves me (and you, as well) in a very vulnerable position. Case in point; being fired left me with little income (mostly savings) to fall back on. Not good.
At this point one
question is probably popping into you're head right now and you're dying to ask
it. Well, I'll ask it for you. "So, Joe, what exactly have you been doing
during those seven years while you were trucking (and even before trucking) to
increase your knowledge, earn extra income and give you peace of mind."
Well, I'm glad I asked for you. :-)
I have been involved
in making money, running a business and marketing on and offline. I've tried a
number of programs out there. A couple worked, most didn't. I've sold
products/services through direct selling, printed classifieds/advertising,
auction sites like Ebay and Bonanza, Google Ads, affiliate marketing to include
Clickbank and Amazon, ppc, websites, SEO, email marketing, social media, you
name it. I've made some money. I've gained a considerable amount of knowledge.
And I'm still learning the ins and outs of this business.
Now, how a “bad
deal” of being fired turned into a good deal.
